2. Cornerback AJ Bouye

AJ Bouye had a stretch of his career where he was considered one of the best corners in the entire NFL. His two-year stretch of 2016-2017 saw him become an elite talent. He posted coverage grades of 89 in both seasons according to PFF. While his recent body of work hasn’t been at that level, he proved that he can still contribute. Given he is willing to play a small role, he could be a great depth piece.

Bouye spent the 2021 season with the Carolina Panthers, where he started seven games and played in 10. His playtime varied in each game, ranging from just 16 snaps in one game to 79 in another. His performance on the field also varied on a weekly basis. In one week, he would look solid, and in the next, he struggled.

Bouye finished the season playing in just 401 snaps. He recorded 28 total tackles, three pass breakups, and allowed zero touchdowns. He was targeted 41 times, and allowed 33 receptions, with 11 of these coming in one game. He finished the season with a PFF grade of 66.8

Even if Bouye is added as just a rotational piece along the secondary, he still brings both leadership and knowledge to the position. While he has taken steps back from his peak, there is still a place for him to contribute. With the Giants having so many young players at the cornerback spot, having someone with Bouye’s history could prove to be extremely beneficial.
