The idea of offensive tackles Andrew Thomas and Evan Neal working together in the trenches is something that fires up the NY Giants faithful. Thomas is one of the best offensive tackles in the game, even if Pro Football Focus somehow doesn’t think he’s in the Top 10. Heading into the fall, Thomas knows there’s plenty of challenges for the squad.

However, Thomas also knows there’s plenty of reasons to be excited about the offense, which now includes No. 7 overall pick Evan Neal. The former Alabama standout has made his way to East Rutherford and he’s wasting no time in turning heads. If you ask Thomas, he’s jacked up to help show Thomas the ropes. He made that much clear while speaking to the guys over at Talkin’ Giants.

NY Giants OT Andrew Thomas is loving what he’s seeing from Evan Neal

"“This is my first time meeting him,” Thomas said of Neal via his interview with Talkin’ Giants. “He’s a really good guy it seems like so far. He doesn’t talk that much, but I think he’s going to be a great player. He’s eager to learn, already asking questions on how I get the plays out and how I understand them. Stuff like that. I’m definitely going to look out for him. He’ll be a great player for us.”"

That’s a strong quote from Thomas and it must be great for Brian Daboll to know that his standout tackle is going to help his rookie out. For Neal, there are few better tackles in the game he could learn from than Thomas. While there have been some lean years in East Rutherford of late, Thomas has been superb for New York since making his way to town.

In his first two seasons with the Giants, Thomas has started 28 games and he’s been a monster in the trenches for this organization. More of the same is expected in 2022, but he’ll know have Neal out on the field with him to prevent pass-rushers from getting to Daniel Jones. With Jones hoping to play his way into a new contract, Neal and Thomas will play a huge role in the quarterback having a strong season.

Only time will tell just how good Neal can be with the Giants, but he’s already making quite an impact on several people inside the Giants building. This includes Thomas, who is chomping at the bit for the season to get here so he can keep on doing some strong work like normal.
