Every team runs into trap games on their schedule, suffering losses in contests they should have come out on top of. There are those meetings where you look back and think how in the world did they drop that one? Could that end up being the case for the NY Giants in 2022 if they’re not too careful?

The Giants aren’t expected to be a squad that will blow the opposition out of the water, but there are certainly games on the way they’ll be favorites in. In this piece, we take a look at four ‘trap games’ head coach Brian Daboll is most definitely going to want to make sure his players don’t overlook.

1. Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars head into the 2022 season hoping to not earn the No. 1 overall pick for the third consecutive season. The team spent big money in free agency, adding to what was a mediocre offense. They also drafted pass-rusher Travon Walker at the top of the 2022 NFL Draft, exciting the fanbase.

This came a year after selecting former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall. This Jaguars team does not lack talent and there’s excitement with Doug Pederson taking over as head coach to replace the controversial Urban Meyer. Lawrence is also entering Year 2, with an improved offense that will be looking to take a huge jump. He may not be ready to make the leap former No. 1 pick Joe Burrow did with the Bengals, but expectations are high for Lawrence.

The Giants will enter this showdown with Jacksonville hoping to silence them at MetLife Stadium. Entering the year, fans are ready to write this off as a win already, but Lawrence, Walker and the other Jacksonville playmakers will hope to record a tough road win. NY needs to be careful with this one.
