Kadarius Toney had minor knee surgery but NY Giants fans shouldn’t panic
Everyone has been wondering why second-year NY Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney hasn’t been able to fully practice with the rest of the first-team offense at OTAs. Toney has been rocking a red jersey, getting work in on the side. Thanks to Giants insider Pat Leonard, we now know why Toney hasn’t been making plays for quarterback Daniel Jones.
According to Leonard, Toney underwent minor knee surgery and he’s still not fully recovered yet from the procedure. While this is a bit of a bummer for now, Leonard is also reporting that this isn’t anything serious at all and Toney should be ready to rock for fall camp. That’s of course fantastic news for head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka.
NY Giants WR Kadarius Toney is still recovering from knee surgery
For the Giants fanbase, they’d love it if Toney was a full participant at OTAs so he can get moving in learning the new offense being implemented. However, the absolute last thing the staff wants to happen is for the speedster to be rushed back too soon, only to make his knee injury even worse than it is.
In this case, it’s better for him to take it easy at OTAs, keep grinding in his rehab and then make sure he’s 100 percent ready to rock for training camp. That’s when things will be taken to a new level for the offense. Luckily for Daboll and Kafka, Jones is feeling confident in running things and he’s fired up at the thought of New York hitting the field.
Toney had a disappointing first year in the league, as he failed to find the end zone during his debut season. He’s ready for that to change this fall, as expectations will be high for the former Florida Gator.
Toney and the Giants are looking to put the offseason drama in the past, as trade rumors were flying left and right. He’s all set to hit the field Week 1 against the Titans and fans are ecstatic at the thought of Toney having a breakout year under Daboll and Co.
