The 2022 NFL Season officially kicks off in Los Angeles in under 100 days, and NFL front offices are in the process of finalizing their respective team’s training camp rosters. Joe Schoen and the new NY Giants front office are currently going through this process, analyzing which position groups could use additional help.

Since the Giants have limited resources this offseason due to questionable decisions from Dave Gettleman, it is unlikely the franchise will make another splash offseason move. This will leave some positions weaker and less experienced than desired.

With one of the youngest rosters in the NFL, the 11-man 2022 Giants draft class could see more snaps on the field then any other group. There will definitely be some growing pains at certain positions in 2022 for the Giants.

Here are the three biggest weakness on the Giants roster

3. The Secondary

When rumors began to swirl that the Giants were enamored with cornerback Pat Surtain Jr. in the 2021 NFL Draft, many fans questioned why as the Giants had one of the deepest secondaries in the league. Just a year later, the secondary is full of question marks. Both Logan Ryan and James Bradberry, two of the Giants defensive leaders, departed this offseason, leaving glaring holes at the second cornerback and strong safety positions.

With Bradberry leaving, Adoree Jackson will slide over to CB1 despite an up and down first season with the Giants. The opposing side will likely be manned by the winner of a training camp completion between Aaron Robinson, Michael Jacquet, Rodarius Williams and Jarren Williams, all of whom have dealt with injuries and inconsistent play throughout their NFL careers. The slot position will either be manned by Cordale Flott, a rookie third-round pick, or Darnay Holmes, who has struggled early on in his NFL career.

While the Giants have one of the NFL’s up and coming defensive stars in Xavier McKinney at the free safety spot, strong safety will likely be manned by Julian Love, who has shown some promise in his NFL career, but dealt with very inconsistent play. Dane Belton, a rookie fourth-round pick out of Iowa, and Yusuf Corker, an undrafted rookie free agent from Kentucky, are the other options.

With modern day NFL offenses all about the passing game, the young Giants secondary will get tested early and often, and their success level will likely be an indicator of how good the Giants can be in 2022.
