Plenty of eyebrows were raised when it was announced that NY Giants head coach Brian Daboll had canceled the final minicamp practice. Just what in the heck is going on in East Rutherford? While there was plenty of concern and fans voiced their worry all over social media, it turns out Daboll was just rewarding his guys for their hard work.

Per multiple reports, including SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, Daboll held a meeting with his players and informed them that they wouldn’t be suiting up for the final session of minicamp. Instead, the team would be getting together for an off-the-field activity instead.

NY Giants canceled the final minicamp practice for a BBQ

According to Art Stapleton, part of the function being put together includes a BBQ at the team facility. So, instead of the guys running routes, blocking would-be tacklers and more during a gruesome practice, they’ll be able to carb up and chow down some delicious food like there’s no tomorrow? That sounds like a nice trade off.

Despite the Giants not hitting the field for the final session, it was a positive week for the group. While several stars were rocking red jerseys, including Kayvon Thibodeaux, Kadarius Toney and more, several studs were able to make some head-turning plays and get the fanbase even more excited for Week 1 to arrive. This obviously includes Daniel Jones.

The fourth-yeah signal-caller is still in the middle of learning the new offense being implemented by offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, but things have been looking good so far. On top of that, people were excited to see the continued progress of rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger, plus second-round pick Wan’Dale Robinson.

Robinson has incredible speed and the fact that he and Jones are already developing some chemistry together is awesome to see. Now, though, fans are going to have to wait until late July for the team to get fully back together for camp. Then, the preparation for the regular season will go into overdrive. Soon enough, Jones and Co. will take on the Tennessee Titans in the opener.

For now, though, the players will have some time to rest and enjoy a little bit of a summer vacation. Things got started a little bit earlier for them thanks to Daboll canceling the last practice of minicamp, but you know the playmakers will be ready to go once camp gets here. The countdown begins.
