Another mock draft has NY Giants taking QB in 2023 NFL Draft
From the moment the 2022 NFL Draft wrapped up, people have already been making their predictions on how things might end up going down next spring. For the NY Giants, head coach Brian Daboll may be ready to back Daniel Jones this upcoming season, but if he struggles, then the team will surely take a signal-caller in the first round next April.
Multiple mocks have linked the G-Men with guys like Bryce Young, Will Levis, C.J. Stroud and more. According to the team over at Pro Football Network, they’re doubling down on the Levis to East Rutherford movement, as they’re predicting the Kentucky quarterback to land with the Giants at No. 7 overall.
NY Giants could replace Daniel Jones with Kentucky QB Will Levis next year
"“Things are looking up for the Giants with Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll,” PFN’s Ian Cummings wrote. “But there are a few loose ends from the previous regime that may eventually need tying up. Although he’s back and healthy, Saquon Barkley’s long-term status with New York is unclear. And while he has a chance to revitalize his career under new management, Daniel Jones’ leash will be shorter this year. If the Giants are picking at No. 7, odds are Jones didn’t impress. And then it will be time for the Giants to invest in a new QB.”"
This isn’t the first time that Levis has been mentioned as the potential QB of the future for the Giants, as Todd McShay previously mocked him to New York as well. Levis, who started off his college career at Penn State, is coming off a strong season in 2021 with the Wildcats. He’s now considered one of the top QB options for the ’23 class.
Last fall, the 6-3, 230-pound Levis tossed for 2,826 yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He’s of course not the only QB on Cummings’ list, as he has the Houston Texans using the No. 1 overall pick on Stroud. The majority of mock drafts out there have Stroud making his way to Houston to be the long-term replacement for Deshaun Watson, who is now suiting up for the Browns.
After that, Cummings sees the Lions taking Young at No. 3 overall. Then, Cummings like Florida’s Anthony Richardson going No. 6 to the Carolina Panthers before the Giants take Levis off the board at No. 7. A ton can change leading up to the ’23 first round, but the wide expectation here is that the Giants will go with a QB. Will it be Levis? We’ll find out down the road.
