If anyone knows about defying the odds while under center for the NY Giants, it’s team legend Eli Manning. Not only did Manning spend 16 memorable campaigns with the team, but he also helped the franchise bring home two Super Bowl victories going up against a guy by the name of Tom Brady.

Yes, Manning knew how to handle the pressure. Now, he’s ready to see fourth-year signal-caller Daniel Jones do the same. While speaking with fellow former first-round pick Cam Newton, Manning opened up about his relationship with Jones. At the same time, he also said he won’t be putting any extra pressure on Jones either before or during the season. If anything, he’s just going to be a friend who Jones can reach out to whenever.

Eli Manning helping Daniel Jones will be huge for the NY Giants

"“I tell him every time, ‘I’m not going to bother you, I’m not going to be the guy texting you or giving you advice, but if you need anything, I’m here for you. If you need anything and you want to text or talk – sometimes it’s just good to talk to another quarterback,'” Manning said. “You can’t talk to your best friend because they don’t know what you’re dealing with. They don’t know what it’s like to be in the pocket and facing a zone blitz or dealing with drama of receivers. I’ve said, if you just need someone to vent to, I’m happy to be here for you.”"

Manning made it clear that he’s not going to hound Jones after a game and overstep any lines. If anything, he’s going to be there ready to help Jones whenever he just needs someone to talk to. Who better to reach out to for advice than Manning in this case? While Manning may be retired, and getting ready to launch his own TV show, he’s still following the team closely. That will once again be the case in 2022.

For Jones, this is his last chance to make an impact with the Giants. If he lives up to the new expectations under Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, then Joe Schoen will have no choice but to put a new contract on the table.

Otherwise, you can fully expect the G-Men to use a first-rounder on a new QB come next spring. Manning is rooting for Jones to find a way to ball out and lock in his spot as the signal-caller of the future. Only time will tell if that happens or not.
