Eli Manning has another supportive message for NY Giants QB Daniel Jones
There are few people out there who are more excited than NY Giants legend Eli Manning when it comes to Daniel Jones. It’s no secret that there’s plenty of folks who have basically written off the former No. 6 overall pick due to his struggles in recent years, but Manning has a much different take.
Instead, Manning, who of course helped the G-Men win two Super Bowls over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, is ready to see Jones have a monster year in 2022. Manning has previously said he’s ready to support Jones in any way possible, even if that’s just the young QB deciding to text him from time to time. Now, Manning has provided more encouraging words for Jones in a recent interview with the NFL Network’s Rhett Lewis.
NY Giants QB Daniel Jones has the full support of team legend Eli Manning
"“I think with Coach (Brian) Daboll, and what they’re doing, and that staff, and (general manager) Joe Schoen, having been around the facility some, the atmosphere has changed,” Manning said. “So I’m excited for Daniel, I know he’s worked extremely hard and you know, been through a lot of offenses, a lot of coaching changes, so hopefully this can be the right one.”"
Things surely have changed with Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen leading the way, while offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is bringing in a brand new playbook for Jones and Co. to learn. As we’ve said plenty of times, the excitement around the Giants sure is fun to see and Jones looks more confident. The same can be said for Saquon Barkley.
At the end of the day, though, none of that buzz will matter if the Giants don’t deliver during the regular season. Fans are still furious with how things went last year, as a 4-13 record was completely unacceptable. It’ll be on Jones to make sure the same kind of campaign isn’t recorded once again.
Manning knows all about overcoming adversity with the Giants and having your back against the wall. With Jones in a contract year and basically playing for his future, Manning also understands the pressure that comes with that. Regardless, the Giants great will be in Jones’ corner from start to finish and he’s excited to see what the NY starter can get done for this team. It’ll all start Week 1 against the Titans.
