NY Giants fans are no strangers to reading about the team going with a quarterback with their first-round pick next spring. People have seen general manager Joe Schoen and Co. linked with C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and Will Levis in recent months. Well, now a new name has joined the list: Tyler Van Dyke.

In his newest NFL Mock Draft, ESPN insider Matt Miller believes the Giants will be given the No. 10 overall pick come next April. If that’s the case, then this obviously tells you it was a down season for the NFC East side and it will be time to move on from former No. 6 overall pick Daniel Jones. If you ask Miller, he likes Van Dyke to the G-Men.

Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke had been projected to join the NY Giants next season

"“The new Giants regime didn’t draft Daniel Jones in the top 10 in 2019 and declined his fifth-year option, which means he’s likely in his final season in New York,” Miller wrote. “That puts the Giants back in the quarterback market. The 6-foot-4 Van Dyke flashed in nine starts last season (25 touchdown passes, six interceptions), and he could be even better in 2022 because of the staff and roster new coach Mario Cristobal has assembled. Van Dyke has the arm strength and mobility to become a star.”"

Van Dyke is getting ready to enter his third season with the Hurricanes and his first under new head coach Mario Cristobal. Cristobal, who is a big fan of Kayvon Thibodeaux’s potential with New York, knows the kind of talent he has with Van Dyke. Last season, the signal-caller completed 202 of 324 pass attempts (62.3 percent completion rate) for 25 touchdowns and only six interceptions.

In his first season seeing extensive action for Miami, Van Dyke didn’t disappoint. Now, he’ll be ready to take a big step in 2022. If he does get that done, then he’ll certainly see his NFL Draft stock continue to rise. Everyone is waiting to see how Jones performs this season, but a lot of folks are already thinking about his replacement.

Jones, entering the final year of his contract, knows he has to put up major numbers if he wants Schoen to present him with a new contract offer. If that doesn’t happen, the Giants will be working overtime in their research for a QB of the future. Van Dyke could end up being that guy, as Miller and countless others love his potential.
