4 offseason mistakes the NY Giants will regret
By Zach Wolpin
1. Cutting CB James Bradberry
The final mistake that could have the most repercussions for the Giants next season is losing James Bradberry. Nothing kills you more than losing a valuable player to a division rival. Seeing Bradberry sign with the Eagles was a real punch in the face to so many people out there, as they were hoping the stud CB wouldn’t land in Philly.
Bradberry only spent two seasons with the Giants and both were different. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020, but he took a bit of a step back in 2021. At the end of the day, Bradberry was cut to help with the salary cap, as his $21.9 million hit was simply something the team couldn’t afford. With Bradberry out, Adoree’ Jackson will be CB1 next season, while someone else is going to have to put on a show at training camp to grab the CB2 spot.
With new defensive coordinator Wink Martindale in East Rutherford too, the veteran assistant will have his hands full trying to help this unit reach its potential. In addition to CB, several other big-time calls will be made at camp. Once Week 1 arrives, though, Bradberry will be in Philly and he’ll no doubt have revenge on his mind when the Eagles and G-Men face off.
