The Dallas Cowboys choking on and off the field? What could be better for the NY Giants faithful? In addition to trading away star wideout Amari Cooper this offseason, it looks like Jerry Jones and Co. absolutely bottled things in terms of trying to land star pass-rusher Von Miller. Matter of fact, Dallas fans must be furious right now.

According to The Athletic’s Dan Pompei, Miller was ready to return to his home state and suit up for the Cowboys. He made that much clear to the team. However, the Cowboys and Jones put a low-ball offer on the table. While Miller was ready to play for less, the amount Dallas presented him wasn’t enough, leading to the Bills winning him over with their offer.

The Cowboys offer for Von Miller simply wasn’t good enough

According to Pompei, Dallas wanted to sign Miller on a five-year, $70 million deal. This was the same amount given to Randy Gregory as well, with Gregory ultimately making his way to Denver. However, Miller didn’t feel like that was enough and once the Bills put their six-year, $120 million contract on the table, the rest was history.

What really has people in Dallas frustrated is that Miller wanted to make this happen. He grew up watching the Cowboys and was all set to get back ‘home’ to play in front of his friends and family. This would have been quite the splash move for Dallas and one that the team’s supporters would have loved.

Instead, people all over Texas will now have to watch Miller make plays in the AFC East. After winning the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams last season, Miller has now turned his focus to helping the Bills get over the top. After losing in the AFC Championship Game to the Chiefs two years ago, and in the Divisional Round to KC last winter, Buffalo has the Lombardi Trophy in its sights for the 2022 campaign.

As things stand, the Bills are the favorites to win it all. The addition of Miller will surely help their chances. With the Cowboys, they’re hoping to win the NFC East, but no one is expecting them to push for a Super Bowl. Instead, they’ll have to worry about teams like the NY Giants surprising them once or twice in the regular season. For now, Giants fans can celebrate the early W of Dallas blowing it with Miller.
