3. Darius Slayton being traded
This has been speculated from the moment the regular season came to a close. Things only heated up in this department once the Giants used a second-round pick on wideout Wan’Dale Robinson. So, will Darius Slayton be headed out of town via a deal with a different team? That remains to be seen.
However, it was just reported that Slayton is among the playmakers who are in North Carolina working out with quarterback Daniel Jones. Do we really think Jones would invite Slayton to grind with him this offseason if he wasn’t in NY’s plans for the 2022 campaign? That really feels unlikely.
There’s still a chance Slayton ends up getting released, but that doesn’t feel as likely as it did a few weeks ago either. While Slayton himself hasn’t lived up to the hype with the Giants, he really has a chance to make an impact on the team in what will definitely be a ‘prove-it year’ for him with the NFC East side.
If Slayton struggles early on in the season, then who knows, maybe Schoen decides to trade him or cut him altogether. The odds of this happening will increase if Robinson ends up balling out too. This is all a wait and see, but we’re expecting Slayton out on the field come Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans.
