While there was a long list of NY Giants players who weren’t able to be full participants during OTAs and minicamp, not seeing star left tackle Andrew Thomas sure stung for fans. Thomas, who had a strong showing in 2021, underwent ankle surgery in the winter and has been battling back to get to 100 percent.
Thomas turned plenty of heads in a recent workout clip that went viral. The question everyone had on their minds was whether or not the talented hoss would be good to go for the start of training camp later this month. Well, good news has arrived on that front, as Thomas said he’ll be ready to rock via the Giants Huddle Podcast.
NY Giants OT Andrew Thomas will be ready for the start of camp
"“Rehab is coming along pretty well. I’m doing everything the trainers ask me to do,” Thomas said via the team website. “Definitely moving a lot better and I’m prepared to be ready for training camp. It’s definitely frustrating (missing time), but it’s part of the business, learning how to navigate being injured because you’re never going to feel 100 percent. But I felt like last year I started to make some strides. It’s a little frustrating sometimes when you can’t be on the field with your teammates.”"
That’s exactly what the NY faithful were hoping to read about Thomas sooner than later. This is the second big piece of injury news, as Kayvon Thibodeaux also said he’ll be good to go for Day 1 of camp as well. Now, people are going to be waiting for positive updates on Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay and others.
When the Giants are at full health, there’s no question they have the kind of talent to make plenty of noise in the NFC. However, a big problem with this team in recent years has been keeping guys on the field. Head coach Brian Daboll is hopeful all of his studs can get healthy and stay that way throughout the campaign.
This news on Thomas is some more needed good news for the G-Men. Things are about to go into overdrive with the regular season getting closer and closer. Having Thomas out on the field dominating in the trenches from the start will be huge for the offensive line as a whole to gel together. Big things are coming from the former first-round pick.
