There isn’t a single NY Giants fan out there who isn’t rooting for offensive lineman Nick Gates right now. Last season, the former standout for Nebraska went down in Week 2, suffering a gruesome leg injury against Washington. Gates was out for the rest of the 2021 campaign with his fractured leg. As he lay on the turf in a ton of pain, hearts broke everywhere.

It has been a long, difficult road back for Gates, but he’s hoping that his injury won’t end his career so early on. Well, Gates took to his Instagram page to share a new workout clip. Thanks to a fan on Twitter, we’re able to see Gates get low with his squats and power his way back up. This is sure to bring a smile to countless faces.

NY Giants OL Nick Gates remains on the comeback trail

In an interview with Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Gates said that his ultimate goal is to play again for the Giants. He knows that won’t be easy, however, as this was an incredibly serious injury. With that said, Gates continues to be motivated and he’s going to do everything in his power to try and suit up for the NFC East side.

"“I don’t know if it’s happening,” Gates told Duggan earlier this offseason. “It’s just a goal I’m trying to shoot for. Not saying that’s my timeline or anything. We’ll see. I don’t know if it’s going to happen or not. It’s tough to tell.”"

Interestingly enough, the Giants released a new video on Instagram of players participating in the ‘drip challenge’ and Gates was featured in the middle of things, rocking his full Giants uniform. This has plenty of people talking about whether or not he’ll be able to make some sort of an appearance at training camp.

The Giants obviously won’t want to rush back Gates, but it sure looks like he’s fighting with all his power to play the game he loves so much again sooner than later. The big-bodied hoss is proving to be an inspiration for countless New York supporters out there. Should he eventually make his way back out onto the field at MetLife Stadium, there’s no question that Gates would receive a heroes welcome by the Giants supporters. Only time will tell if that happens or not, but there are thousands of people in his corner.
