The regular season is right around the corner for the NY Giants. The G-Men have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL for this upcoming season, but other teams in the NFC East also have that same luxury. Although the Giants may have one of the easiest schedules this year, that doesn’t automatically mean that a successful winning season is on the way for New York.
The Giants on paper are still considered to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, and while fans and analysts have started making their predictions for who the Giants will beat this upcoming season, its also worth noting that almost every other team in the NFL will be circling the Giants as an easy win. In terms of games at MetLife Stadium, there are some tough home contests on the way for NY. Here’s a look at four that fans certainly can’t wait for.
4. Week 14 vs. the Philadelphia Eagles
A fierce division rival for the Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles made some great moves to strengthen their team for the 2022 season. The most notable offseason move for the Eagles was the trade with Tennessee Titans for wide receiver AJ Brown, bringing him to Philly to join Devonta Smith in his second year as an additional offensive weapon to help aid the development for quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Hurts will be entering his third season in the NFL and while he’s shown glimpses of how good he can be, he has some rough games so far in his career which leaves the door slightly open on whether he is the long term franchise quarterback for the Eagles.
Philly selected some potential superstars in the 2022 NFL Draft, including Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis and fellow former Bulldog teammate, linebacker Nakobe Dean. Other Notable offseason moves for Philly included signing pass-rusher Haason Reddick, who has 23.5 sacks over the past two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers. To top off Philly’s offseason, they signed former Giants cornerback James Bradberry after he was released from the team for cap reasons.
For years, Bradberry has been the only decent cornerback for the G-Men, but he joins Darius Slay in the Eagles secondary for 2022 and potentially beyond if he decides to sign an extension with Philadelphia. Hurts showed flashes of potential last year, with the Eagles primarily being a run heavy team, playing around the dual threat capabilities that Hurts offers.
The Eagles secured a playoff berth last season, finishing second in the division with a 9-8 record. Although the Giants picked up a win against Philly last year, they are considered to be underdogs against the Eagles in 2022. The Giants don’t want to be swept by a division rival and will need to play hard to win this home game late in the campaign.
