NY Giants legend Tiki Barber called out Zach Wilson and Jets fans are mad
It’s been an unreal offseason for NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, as rumors have swirled about his life off the field. We’re not going to get into the word around the young quarterback, but we’re guessing you’re pretty familiar with what his ex-girlfriend has said about what he’s done with a friend’s mom.
With that, Wilson has made countless headlines and it’s taken away the focus from the Jets as a whole. If you ask NY Giants legend Tiki Barber, this is all a bit of a joke. Matter of fact, Barber didn’t hesitate in calling out the young signal-caller while on his radio show. With this, Jets fans aren’t happy about what Tiki had to say.
Tiki Barber was spot on with his take on NY Jets QB Zach Wilson
"“The narrative around Zach Wilson is he’s hanging out all the time at the Rangers game, he’s at the Yankees game – maybe it was a Mets game, I can’t remember,” Barber said. “We love his love life for whatever reason, but I don’t really care. As long as he’s balling, I don’t care. I almost feel like it’s (off the field stuff) intentional. Like he’s putting himself out there intentionally to build his brand, just like all of these young players who come into any sport – it’s what they do.”"
Wilson had a rookie season to forget, as the young QB struggled from start to finish last fall. He didn’t live up to the hype and people were already throwing in the towel on his future with the team. Now, Wilson is making a ton of noise for all of the wrong reasons and it’s only adding to the frustration for Jets fans.
All that mess is great to see for the Giants supporters, though, as they don’t have to worry about Daniel Jones and what he does off the field. If anything, Jones is staying low key in order to get his mind and body right for what needs to be a big 2022 season for him. Anything other than a head-turning campaign would result in him being out of town come next offseason.
Wilson is also hoping to get himself back into the good graces of the NY faithful, but if you ask Barber, he’s doing a pretty bad job at that. Countless Jets supports are going after Barber on social media for his Jets/Wilson take, but he makes a great point. Wilson needs to show some maturity and remember that the Jets invested millions in him. As for the Giants faithful, they’ll sit back and keep enjoying the comedy that is the NY Jets.
