All year, people are going to be asking NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones about how he’s feeling knowing that his future is up in the air. With the front office declining his fifth-year option, Jones is entering 2022 in a season that’s going to be a 17-game interview. If Jones wants to be back next fall, he has to ball out.
Things got off to a good start for him with the first day of training camp, as the signal-caller was looking sharp out there. Jones delivered some nice touchdown tosses, including one to Kadarius Toney that’s going to be talked about for quite some time. After the first session, Jones was asked about his contract situation and you can see just how calm he is about things.
NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones isn’t worried about his future with the team
"“My focus is to prepare as well as I can and win games. I think, that’s all I can focus on and that’s what’s going to lead to the best results. That’s my mindset. I think if I do those things, then the rest of it will take care of itself.”"
Jones looks as calm as can be in that clip above and there’s no worry or concern for him. You’ve got to believe that both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll have told him to just go out there on the field and have some fun. In order for Jones to have a big year in ’22, he’s going to have to be relaxed and count on his playmakers to put on a show.
That was the case for the first day of camp, with guys like Toney, Saquon Barkley, Wan’Dale Robinson and more looking fresh. The new offensive system opened plenty of eyes too, which is only going to grow in the coming weeks. There’s a great feeling around the Giants as a whole and Jones is in the center of things.
While an unknown NFL coach recently bashed Jones and said this will be his last season with the G-Men, he knows he has what it takes to win over the trust of Schoen and Daboll. He needs to go out there an execute and not worry about things he can’t control. From the looks of his response to being asked about his future, it doesn’t look like NY supporters have anything to worry about with Danny Dimes.
