The NY Giants are back at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford and life is good for fans everywhere. Football is here and it hasn’t tasted this sweet in a while. The NY playmakers recorded some amazing plays during the opening practice and more of the same is expected leading up to the regular season.
There were several things that stood out from Day 1 of training camp, which surely has people talking. In our eyes, four things in particular stood out, with the new general manager and head coach of course turning our heads a bit. Here’s the four main takeaways from the opening day.
4. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen mean business
Before the players even took the field, Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll had a press conference to discuss things. While the two have a laid back demeanor, you can tell just how seriously they’re taking things during camp. For Schoen, he wants to see all the guys not only compete at a high level, but also execute on every snap.
The same can be said for Daboll. He knows there’s going to be some mistakes made out there, but he wants his guys to learn from them. Is Daniel Jones going to throw an interception? Sure. Will there be some confusion trying to move forward with some new offensive plays the guys are still learning? Obviously.
Having said that, Daboll and Schoen both want to make sure that the mistakes aren’t repeated and that the players are learning from what they’ve done wrong. Once the players took the field, Daboll was right in the mix of things, even celebrating after a big play. This is something that was great to see.
At the end of the day, Daboll is the one who’s going to bring out the best of the studs on the roster. If he can keep pushing them the right way, then it’s going to make a world of a difference moving forward.
