There’s something about experts over in Las Vegas always knowing what’s going on, which should have the newest piece of news regarding the NY Giants raising some eyebrows. That’s right, the latest odds have been dropped on teams potentially landing San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

With this, the Giants have suddenly emerged as the betting favorites to bring in the veteran signal-caller. Garoppolo was informed by Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch that they’re ready to move forward with former first-round pick Trey Lance as the starting QB. With this, Jimmy G could be on his way out of town soon. Does this mean a flight to the east coast is coming?

An NY Giants trade for Jimmy Garoppolo would be foolish

With these odds, it’s important to remember that it’s leaving the door open for either a trade for the 49ers, or the team cutting him and someone else inking him to a new deal. For general Manager Joe Schoen, trading for Garoppolo can’t happen. Garoppolo’s cap hit is out of this world for 2022 and it’s nothing the G-Men can afford.

Even if San Francisco releases Garoppolo, NY wouldn’t have the kind of money the signal-caller would be looking for out in free agency. Nothing about Garoppolo suiting up for the Giants makes an ounce of sense, especially with Daniel Jones looking sharp thus far at training camp for Brian Daboll and Co.

With the team ready to move forward with Jones as the starter for 2022, the hope is that the former No. 6 overall pick can finally live up to the hype and power this offense the way he’s supposed to. All this latest Garoppolo talk, however, is simply putting more doubt in fans’ minds about whether or not Jones will run the team out onto the field for the Week 1 matchup in Tennessee.

For now, Garoppolo remains a 49er, but his days with the organization appear to be limited. Jimmy G has proven he can win some big games time and time again, but he just doesn’t look to be a reliable, QB of the future for a squad right now. Giants fans don’t want anything to do with Garoppolo either, so you’d understand why the updated odds have people a bit nervous right now. Who knows what will end up going down here, but Jimmy G should be on the move soon.
