With Day 3 of training camp coming to a close, the New York Giants had several players make their presence felt in a big way. With the offense somewhat struggling due to the absence of center Jon Feliciano, the defense was the clear winner in East Rutherford.

The offense failed to keep up with what the defense had to show – both veterans and young players were lights out.

Led by defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, this unit has what it takes to be a serious force this season. Expectations will be high and they will need to produce regularly. With that said, here are the biggest standouts of Day 3 of training camp:

4. Dexter Lawrence

Heading into Year 4, all eyes will be on defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. After Friday’s performance, people will have even more reason to believe that he’ll be a superstar in 2022 for the G-Men.

Lawrence was dominant and was getting into the backfield with ease. For a Giants offensive line that looks vastly different than it did last season, this should be considered an impressive day for the defensive tackle.

Lawrence, who spent his collegiate seasons at Clemson, has been solid since the Giants drafted him with the 17th overall pick in 2019. He has played in 48 total games and has started 41. In his time with the Giants, he has racked up 145 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and 30 quarterback hits.

He is now playing in a defensive front that will also feature Leonard Williams, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Azeez Ojulari this year. He has also been consistent enough to now be considered a veteran of the group. His performance this season, if all goes to plan, could be the best of his career.
