4 biggest standouts from Day 3 of NY Giants training camp
By Reese Nasser
3. Kayvon Thibodeaux
Rookie edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux also had himself one heck of a Friday, really putting on a show. Like much of the defense, he was dominant. His most notable play came against Andrew Thomas.
Thibodeaux beat Thomas during a team drill, utilizing the elite first step that has gained him notoriety through the years. The Giants will look for Thibodeaux to be a massive contributor from Day 1. After adding him with the fifth overall pick, he is set to be a centerpiece of this defense.
Thibodeaux rose to prominence during his three seasons at Oregon. He made 30 appearances. Thibodeaux filled the stat sheet, recording 126 total tackles, 35.5 tackles for loss, and 19 sacks. He also recorded three forced fumbles.
During his final season at Oregon in 2021, Thibodeaux appeared in 10 games. He still managed to set career-highs in nearly every defensive category. In total, he racked up 49 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. He also added two forced fumbles. With the addition of Thibodeaux, this defensive front will be really fun to watch. Thibodeaux has high expectations for 2022 – he should be able to live up to the all of the hype.
