4 biggest standouts from Day 3 of NY Giants training camp
By Reese Nasser
1. Darnay Holmes
Third-year cornerback Darnay Holmes has put in yet another solid training camp performance. Holmes has recorded an interception in each of the Giants practices this week
Holmes is seemingly penciled in as a big piece of this Giants defense. Many believe that he will hold down the nickel spot in this young secondary. After the performance that he has put on so far, it’s not unrealistic to think that he’ll be an every-down player for this unit.
Holmes, while entering Year 3, has played in just 23 games. He has started nine total and has recorded 59 total tackles, two interceptions, and seven defended passes. The former UCLA cornerback is still just 24 years old. A solid season could lead to him being seen as a foundational piece of this unit.
With the departures of Bradberry, Peppers, and Ryan, the secondary as a whole has spots up for grabs. Arguably, the only two players who are truly locked in as starters are McKinney and Adoree’ Jackson. If Holmes can continue to put on solid performances, he could play a vital role in 2022 and provide plenty of great plays for the fans to enjoy.
