7. Darius Slayton doesn’t have a future with this team

For months now, people have been speculating whether or not wideout Darius Slayton would be with the Giants for the start of the campaign. Things are not clear here, as it looks like they could go either way. The trade rumors continue for Slayton, while there’s also a chance he’s cut by the front office.

Thus far at camp, Slayton has been working with the second team offense for the majority of his reps. A rough Day 2 for Slayton also didn’t help his chances of being with the squad once the showdown with the Tennessee Titans arrives in September. Looking ahead to early September, it’d almost feels like a shock that Slayton will still be around.

It’d be different if Slayton was running out there with the starters and making some fantastic plays for Jones and Daboll to enjoy. Instead, Slayton has showcased some drops, which has been an issue for him before. If Schoen can get a veteran defensive back in return for him in a trade, he’d surely be wise to get that done as soon as possible.
