2. LB Micah McFadden

The Giants drafted Indiana linebacker Micah McFadden in the fifth round of this year’s draft. It was widely believed that McFadden could have a shot at earning the starting interior linebacker spot alongside Martinez.

During his time at Indiana, McFadden appeared in 42 games. He recorded 216 total tackles, 36 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks. He also grabbed four interceptions and had two forced fumbles. He was a force in all areas of the game while in college. Last season, he posted a pass-rushing grade of 92.0 according to PFF. This was the best of all Big Ten linebackers.

Expectations were high for McFadden heading into training camp. Instead, McFadden hasn’t even had his name in the conversation. The rookie linebacker has made his presence felt on a few occasions but has mainly been quiet.

On multiple occasions, he has been outshined by fellow rookie linebacker Darrian Beavers.
It is far too early to say that McFadden won’t turn it around. Preseason could prove to be huge for him as he will get to be on the field in a live game. The Giants have high hopes for their rookie linebacker and a starting job isn’t out of the question.

If he can string together a few strong performances, the Giants could be in a good spot.
