As soon as it was announced that former NY Giants first-round pick Kadarius Toney wasn’t going to be able to suit up against the New England Patriots, there were a lot of disappointed fans out there. Toney has been downright electric throughout training camp, but an injury suffered earlier in the week during practice kept him out of the preseason opener.

So, when will the second-year man out of Florida be able to get back on the field for the Giants and head coach Brian Daboll? That’s a bit up in the air right now, with Toney still ‘working back’ from things. When asked about Toney’s injury and when he’ll be able to suit up again, Daboll didn’t give the kind of answer that people were hoping for.

NY Giants WR Kadarius Toney is dealing with an unknown injury

"“With all due respect, I’m just not going to get into the specifics of it really with anybody,” Daboll said following Thursday night’s 23-21 victory over the Patriots. “He is working back. We’ll see where he is at when we get back”"

Daboll went on to say that he hopes Toney will be able to practice in the coming days, but no one knows for sure yet. What’s even more worrisome in this case is that it is yet to be revealed as to what exactly is keeping him sidelined. There’s surely some concern from the Big Blue faithful that the knee he had offseason surgery on could be providing Toney with some problems.

On the other hand, though, the general feeling is that this isn’t a serious injury for Toney and he’s not in jeopardy of missing the regular season opener going up against the Tennessee Titans next month. Will Toney be able to play in Game 2 of the preseason, with the Giants getting ready to host the the Bengals next weekend over at MetLife Stadium?

Everyone will want to see Toney in action, as he needs to develop more in-game chemistry with Daniel Jones. Jones looked sharp at times in the preseason showdown with New England, though people aren’t done talking about the hideous Kenny Golladay drop which cost the team a shot at a touchdown.

Regardless of that, Danny Dimes will hope to take a positive step vs. Cincinnati and he’ll need Toney catching passes from him to make that happen.
