2. RB Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley had a rough 2021 when he returned from an ACL injury, which kept him sidelined for the majority of the 2020 season. Barkley was not the same player after that injury – all the explosiveness which he possessed was not seen in his 2021 season.

However, this summer’s training camp has seen him look better than ever. It appears the mental side of dealing with an injury that big is something he has overcome, as he is making cuts and hitting the holes with more acceleration.

One big difference from this year’s camp to that of previous years is how often he has been used lining up as a receiver. Daboll appears to have a vision for how Barkley is going to be used in the Giants offense and it is something that Barkley has not had the chance to do so since his captivating rookie season.

It is a massive year for Barkley who not only needs to silence the critics, but also put up big numbers in what is a contract year for the 2018 first-rounder. Barkley’s  future with the Giants beyond 2022 is a mystery, but if he can enter his name into the conversation of best running backs in the league again with anything close to the numbers he put up in his rookie season, then maybe for the right price there is a future with the franchise beyond this campaign.
