3. QB Daniel Jones
Thursday was the first time for Giants fans to see the new offensive system that the team has been learning all summer. Daniel Jones and the offensive starters played most of the first quarter and they looked pretty sharp to start the game. In pre and regular season games, their first 10-15 offensive plays are usually scripted out. This was evident in last night’s game.
Jones only played in the first quarter, ending 6 of 10 with 69 yards passing with one rush for six yards. His one rush got Big Blue a first down. This was a short sample size of Jones as expected. Starters do not see much playing time in the preseason.
These were the live reps that he needed against other NFL defenses. He was quick and precise with his passes, and the offensive line being upgraded in the offseason helped as well. Not a bad start to the preseason for Jones, who could have had a much better showing had it not been for a Kenny Golladay drop.
