Watch Colin Cowherd rip Daniel Jones and push for Jimmy Garoppolo move
The argument as to whether or not the NY Giants should move on from Daniel Jones before Week 1 isn’t going to be slowing down over the next month. You’ve got people on both sides of things in this case, as several fans want to ride with Jones, while plenty of other folks are calling for him to hit the bench as soon as possible.
The only and only Colin Cowherd had made his stance more than clear, as he’s seen more than enough of Jones. Following the Thursday night preseason win over the Patriots, Cowherd wasn’t left impressed whatsoever. Matter of fact, he decided to rip Jones and he’s keeping his fingers crossed that Jimmy Garoppolo somehow makes his way to East Rutherford.
Jimmy Garoppolo NY Giants rumors continue to fly around
Cowherd didn’t hold back here and this isn’t the first time a national voice has tried bringing Jones down like this. Cowherd basically went on to say that Jones is a bust and that he should have never been taken with the No. 6 overall pick in the first place. That pick sure is looking like a nightmare now, but there’s hope that Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka can help turn Jones’ career around.
If you ask Cowherd, though, he thinks it’s time for the plug to be pulled on the experiment, and he’d love to see Jimmy G make his way to MetLife Stadium to take over the offense. That’s not going to be easy, though, as the Giants don’t have the cap space to trade for him and take on his salary.
If the 49ers were to release Garoppolo, would he be willing to sign with the Giants on a cheap, one-year deal? Who knows. For now, what we do know is that Jones is going to continue to run the starting offense for the Giants and hope to make a splash in the second preseason game of the summer, which will come against the Cincinnati Bengals.
If Jones can throw a touchdown pass or two and light up the Cincinnati defense, then Cowherd should get back on the air and issue a passionate apology to Danny Dimes. If Jones does struggle, then we shouldn’t be surprised if we see Cowherd double down on his take that it’s time for Jones to be replaced as the go-to signal-caller for Daboll and Co.
