One of the biggest topics of discussion this offseason for the NY Giants has been the new look of the offensive line. Already, though, there’s now concern that the five big bodies won’t be able to line up together once the showdown with Tennessee arrives. That’s because the toe injury of starting offensive guard Shane Lemieux is a bit more on the concerning side.

Lemieux, who missed virtually all of last season, went down during the preseason opener against the New England Patriots. At the time of his injury, it didn’t look like it was anything too serious and that the G-Men kept him out of action as a precautionary measure. When speaking to the media, though, Brian Daboll didn’t seem too optimistic about the left guard returning to action soon.

OL Shane Shane Lemieux could miss Week 1 vs. the Titans

There’s still about a month of time for Lemieux to get himself healed up and ready to rock, but the fact that Daboll said ‘we’ll see’ as to whether or not it will be a long-term deal isn’t great to see. The absolute last thing the NY offensive line can deal with this season is inconsistency, and injuries will only complicate things.

During practice on Sunday, the Giants offense had a nightmare showing, with Daniel Jones struggling. The fourth-year signal-caller tossed two interceptions and he was under constant pressure. That’s on the guys up front to try and prevent from happening. With Lemieux out of action, it will only make life more difficult for Jones.

In 2021, Lemieux was only able to appear in one game, as he suffered suffered a knee injury and was forced to miss the rest of the campaign. During his rookie year in 2020, Lemieux appeared in 12 contests and started nine of them. He’s going to play a big role for the OL group this year, but he’s simply got to find a way to stay healthy.

The hope from the fanbase is that Lemieux can rest up this week and then get back on the practice field with more than enough time to get himself ready for the meeting with the Titans. Only time will tell if that happens or not, but the latest update from Daboll isn’t good whatsoever.
