2. RB Matt Breida

Okay we’ll admit, this might be a controversial pick. The Giants signed Matt Breida this offseason in hopes of him being a quality backup for Saquon Barkley. Breida is a beast with the ball in his hands when he’s healthy, but we haven’t been able to see him in the preseason due to injury, which has been a bummer.

With this, it has opened the door for Antonio Williams and rookie Jashaun Corbin to get more work. Williams has been a treat to watch. Despite it being the preseason and the Giants playing against mostly backups, Williams has really looked sharp and he’s impressed head coach Brian Daboll and the rest of the offensive staff.

In the win over the Patriots, Williams rushed the ball nine times for 61 yards and a touchdown. He added five carries for 26 yards against the Bengals, while also posting seven receptions for 46 yards. Williams showcased great hands in that game. Meanwhile with Corbin, he rushed for 27 yards and a score. He’s a flashy rookie.

Will the play of Williams and Corbin be enough to leave Breida off the 53-man roster? That’s tough to say. It’s also tough to say Breida has no business being out there come Week 1, but the showings of Williams and Corbin this summer has certainly opened the door for this to be talked about. Keep an eye on whether or not Breida sticks with the G-Men for 2022.
