NY Giants could get steal of the offseason with this Odell Beckham Jr. contract
Plenty of NY Giants fans out there were beyond fired up when they saw that Odell Beckham Jr. is open to the idea of returning to East Rutherford. Can you imagine OBJ making mind-blowing plays at MetLife Stadium once again? It’d be incredible to see. Though teams like the Bills and Rams – where Beckham suited up to close out the year in 2021 – are favored to ink him, don’t sleep on the G-Men.
Despite the Giants being strapped for cash, would a one-year deal worth $2 million be enough to bring home Beckham? Potentially. Keep in mind that Beckham signed a $1.25 million deal with LA after he had his divorce with the Browns. With Beckham coming off his torn ACL too, $2 million from Joe Schoen and NY seems pretty darn reasonable.
NY Giants signing Odell Beckham Jr. could spark the team
Another thing to keep in mind here is that the rumors of the Giants releasing Darius Slayton continue to present themselves. Should Schoen decide to go in that direction, it’d free up $2.5 million for the squad. They could use that money to bring in Beckham, which would of course be a step up.
With training camp standout Collin Johnson suffering his torn Achilles, this team needs a playmaker to make some noise and be there for Daniel Jones to count on this season. Slayton has been far too inconsistent and drops have been a big issue for him. The concern with OBJ has been his long injury history.
The man simply can’t stay 100 percent healthy for a long period of time. When he is on the field, though, electric doesn’t even begin to describe Beckham’s style of play. He can make a monstrous impact for an offense. That’s why so many teams out there would love the chance to ink him to a new contract.
Beckham alone isn’t going to fix all the issues for the Giants, but goodness, it sure would be fun to see him back at MetLife and creating magic for this team. Beckham had his issues with his former coaching staff/front office while with the Giants, but things have changed for the better now that Schoen and Brian Daboll are in town. Adding Beckham to the mix would be amazing, and the Giants could make it happen for an affordable price.
