2. Releasing Davis Webb
Last season, one of the biggest issues on the NY Giants was the team’s depth at the QB position, with both Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm being nearly unplayable. However, when new GM Joe Schoen stepped into the front office, he made sure to fix that issue, signing both Tyrod Taylor and Davis Webb.
Despite this, following the team’s preseason finale against the Jets, Schoen decided to release Webb following back-to-back tremendous performances. We get the third QB on the roster is almost never used, and that Webb never really played with starters. Despite this, both Daniel Jones and Taylor have a history of injury concerns and could potentially both go down this season.
During his three preseason performances, Webb completed 60 out of his 81 passes for 458 yards and 3 TDs while also throwing zero interceptions. Yes, this was mostly against second and third stringers, but you can’t not be impressed by this level of play.

Webb is back with the Giants via the practice squad, but he was another guy we were hoping to see on the Week 1 roster. Daboll better hope that Jones AND Taylor stay healthy early on this season.
