Throughout history, the New York Giants have had several players make a name for themselves throughout the preseason. The most notable in recent years is wide receiver Victor Cruz, a stud who will never be forgotten in East Rutherford.

The same was the case this summer in terms of guys standing out. On both offense and defense, there were strong performances from players who have primarily spent much of their career on the practice squad.

While multiple guys on the list below didn’t make the 53-man roster, we’ve still got to show them love for what they accomplished over the last month.

4. QB Davis Webb

The Giants drafted quarterback Davis Webb in 2017. After he spent his rookie season with the Giants, the two parties went their separate ways.

Webb then had stops with the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills, spending time on both the practice squad and the active roster. After spending the 2021 season in Buffalo with now head coach Brian Daboll, Webb seems to have drastically improved his game.

When Daboll took the Giants head coaching job, it was all but guaranteed that Webb would make his way to this team in some way. When called upon during the preseason, Webb put on a show. He finished the preseason throwing for 458 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also proved that he could keep the ball out of the hands of the defense by having zero turnovers.

Webb threw for over 200 yards in each of the final two preseason games. He also proved to be a playmaker, making several solid throws under pressure.

While Webb didn’t make the 53-man roster, he’s back with the Giants via the practice squad. If something happens injury wise to Daniel Jones or Tyrod Taylor this season, the G-Men will have the confidence in letting Webb run the offense. He’s shown he can handle the pressure.
