People were hoping this wouldn’t be the case, but the New York Giants won’t be able to depend on starting left guard Shane Lemiuex for the first month of the season. In some disappointing news, it was announced on Wednesday that Lemieux was one of the handful of players placed on the Injured Reserve.

With this, Lemieux will officially miss the first four contests of the campaign. This comes after he was only able to appear in one game last year due to his knee injury. He underwent surgery and just like that, his fall was over. He had plenty of promise leading up to 2022, but now there’s plenty of concern about his future with the team due to this latest setback.

Injury woes continue for NY Giants OL Shane Lemieux

Lemieux was supposed to be the starting left guard for Week 1, but now we won’t see him until at least early October. It’s unknown who will man the LG spot for the showdown with the Titans – don’t be surprised if Joe Schoen signs a veteran hoss over the next week to try and fix the issue in this case.

For Lemieux, this injury update really has to be a bit deflating for him. The young hoss was understandably bummed to miss virtually the entire 2021 season due to his knee injury. He busted his tail to get back to full strength and was making a splash this summer before going down in preseason action.

Lemieux’s injury was originally announced as a toe issue, but it’s a more serious problem with his foot. Because of this, the trip to the IR was needed. Lemieux isn’t the only one out for the fiirst four contests for the Giants, as he’s joined on the IR by outside linebacker Elerson Smith and cornerback Rodarius Williams.

Over the past month, it feels like the G-Men can’t catch a break when it comes to injuries. With Lemieux in particular, his IR stint stings quite a bit, as he’s hoping to be a key figure in this new-look offensive line. Let’s hope he can get back on the gridiron where he belongs after Week 4 comes and goes.
