When the NY Giants announced in March of 2021 that they had inked star wideout Kenny Golladay to his four-year contract with the team, parades were thrown all over New Jersey. Finally, former general manager Dave Gettleman had aggresively gone out and attraced a premier playmaker to MetLife Stadium to make a difference for Daniel Jones.

Since that day, though, things have only gone downhill for the G-Men and Golladay. The stud wideout was a bonafide bust last season, posting 37 receptions for 521 yards and ZERO touchdowns. No one saw that coming, as those aren’t the kinds of numbers that a $72 million man should record.

Even worse for Golladay this summer, he’s been caught recording plays at less than 100 percent effort at times. A recent video went viral of his for not blocking during the loss to the Jets, but in this case, it’s important to remember that this came on an RPO. Regardless of that, Golladay finished the preseason with one reception for six yards. This came on 51 snaps. That’s just not good enough.

NY Giants WR Kenny Golladay must get out of his funk as soon as possible

With the 53-man roster being set, Golladay of course wasn’t going to get released due to his cap hit. However, people have been more and more angry with his play and some were even calling for the Giants to trade him. Again, due to his cap hit, there was no way that Schoen was going to be able to pull something off.

With that said, though, Golladay will have to put in overtime in not only getting himself ready for Week 1, but for the rest of the year for that matter. Plain and simple, we’ve got to see some fight from No. 19 on Sundays. He needs to be going the extra mile to make a key block, to gain some extra yards – to do whatever is needed to help this team win some games.

If Golladay is able to find the back of the end zone against the Titans, it’s going to feel like a million pounds will be lifted off his shoulders. KG is staying calm and poised through all of the outside noise, but a strong showing come Sept. 11 will go a long ways in getting people off his back. We need the Golladay of old to show up for this team as soon as possible.
