3. Brian Daboll takes a gamble and Saquon Barkley proves him right

The Jones touchdown pass to Chris Myriack was definitely a play that Giants fans loved, as the score pulled the Giants within one with just over a minute to play, but the two-point attempt that capped off the drive was the play of the game.

With the Giants down 20-19, Brian Daboll decided to set the tone for his tenure as Giants coach. Daboll’s ultra aggressive decision to go for two and the win was one of the main reasons the Giants won the football game. Daboll put his trust in the Giants two best offensive players: Jones and Saquon Barkley. And they delivered.

One of the hardest decisions Daboll had to make this offseason was whether he should call plays. He ultimately decided to hand the play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, and he has to be pretty pumped with that decision. Kafka, brought over elements from Kansas City’s offense to New York, and this play from 2019 was the same play he broke out on the successful two point attempt tonight.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have mastered the deceptive goal-line shovel, and Kafka brought that element to New York. Jones and Barkley executed the shovel to perfection, just like Mahomes and Kelce have done numerous times. Barkley’s athleticism finished this play off, as his explosive cut and power move into the end zone sent multiple Tennessee defenders crashing into each other, as he dove across to win the game for the Giants. It was awesome to see just how fired up Barkley was after the play.

After all of the ultra conservative decisions the Giants have made the last two seasons, it is great to see the coaching staff go out and get the win with aggressive coaching, rather than sitting back and hoping the other teams hands the win to them.
