Ranking NFC East QBs after the Week 1 madness
2. Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles faced the Lions on the road in Week 1 in a high scoring game. Philadelphia held a 38-21 lead over Detroit heading into the fourth quarter, but they let that lead slip. They were able to walk away with a 38-35 victory.
Jalen Hurts found an instant connection with newly added wide receiver AJ Brown, targeting him 13 times for 155 yards and 10 receptions. Hurts ended Week 1 18-of-32, with 243 yards, zero passing touchdowns and no interceptions, but he did score a rushing touchdown. The mobile QB also rushed for 90 yards.
A big jump is expected from Hurts this season but if his Week 1 outing is anything to go off of, then the second year starter will have a very similar performance to last season.
Hurts passing numbers may not look too great, but his involvement in the run game is where he shines the most, especially on an Eagles offense that likes to run the football under head coach Nick Sirianni. He’s No. 2 this week, but he could leap our No. 1 player soon enough.
