1. Giants RB Saquon Barkley

There is no other option for the current top running back in the NFC East. Giants RB1 Saquon Barkley put on a show in Week 1. After a 2021 season full of injuries and a lackadaisical offense, Barkley seems to finally be back. This team could end up going as far as he can take them.

In their Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, Barkley looked to be the player that he was during his first two seasons with the Giants. He rushed for 164 yards on 18 attempts while also reaching the end zone once.

Barkley was also utilized heavily in the passing game. He brought in six receptions for 30 yards.

Barkley was able to run rampant against a Titans defense that was elite in the run game last season. Between his strength and power, he was able to move with ease, breaking off several huge plays.

Barkley’s success could be attributed to several different things. The Giants finally putting together a talented offensive line, him now being fully healthy, or the new playbook is just some of the reasons.

By the end of the day, Barkley was leading the league in several different areas. Both his 123 rushing yards after contact and three rushes of 15-plus yards were the most in the NFL. His amazing showing led to NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors too.

At the moment, Barkley is currently the league leader in rushing yards. And the success that he found is no mistake. While injuries have impacted him over the past couple of seasons, it was always expected that he would return to this form.

He may be the best running back in the NFC East. And if he can continue to play like this, he may soon be one of the best running backs in the NFL.
