Injury update on Kadarius Toney is the last thing the NY Giants need right now

We’re all rooting for Kadarius Toney, we really are. Unfortunately for the second-year wideout, he’s having a tough time staying/getting on the field in 2022. Toney was barely in action in the Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans, failing to record a single reception. Now, it’s up in the air if he’ll even suit up for Week 2.

The former first-round pick was added to the injury report on Thursday due to a hamstring issue. It’s the same hamstring that bothered him throughout the summer. New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll doesn’t seem overly optimistic that his speedster will be a full go for the matchup with the Panthers.

NY Giants WR Kadarius Toney may not play vs. the Panthers

You really do have to feel bad for Toney at this point. He’s clearly frustrated with all of the adversity he’s having to overcome and there’s no question this is a bit annoying for Daboll, Mike Kafka and the rest of the Giants staff as well. When healthy, Toney has the kind of speed that can really open a game up.

Daniel Jones would of course love throwing him the ball, while also taking some deep shots with him as well. Right now, however, it’s a wait and see on how his body improves over the next few days. Injuries are nothing new for Toney, as he had to battle so many of them during his rookie year last campaign.

Everyone had their fingers crossed he’d be able to stay healthy this season and not have anything hold him back. That’s not the case early on in 2022, which is disappointing to see. With the Panthers heading to MetLife Stadium this weekend, the G-Men have a great shot of improving to 2-0 on the year.

If Toney isn’t able to get himself on the field, it’s only going to make things much more difficult for this offense. We should find out soon if Toney will be able to play or not, but regardless of that, it’s already been a start to the season to forget for the wideout. You can only hope things turn around for Toney soon.
