Let’s start off by saying that new NY Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka is a football genius and he’s going to do a lot of great things with the G-Men. But, come on dude, how about we simplify things on offense a little bit? In the Giants’ first two drives against the Panthers, they were gifted with great field position thanks to turnovers.

First, the Panthers fumbled the opening kickoff, with Dane Belton jumping on the loose ball. Despite the great start, the Giants settled for a Graham Gano field goal. Then Darnay Holes forced a fumble and NY was knocking on the door once again. Then, another Gano FG came. Jones was doing what he was asked to do. Fans don’t think the same could be said for Kafka.

On the second drive, the Giants really shot themselves in the foot by not scoring a touchdown. On first-and-goal, Kafka decided to go with a wildcat formation, giving the ball to Saquon Barkley. No argument here. But on second down, Kafka tried getting cute again and Panthers’ linebacker Frankie Luvu lit up Daniel Jones. That’s just not going to cut it.

The Giants simply are not good enough of a team to leave points like this on the board. Wink Martindale’s defense is playing well early on, and they’re sure getting a lot of help from the fans in blue over at MetLife Stadium. The place is buzzing right now and that’s not going to be stopping anytime soon.

However, the NY supporters are hoping they can celebrate something big happening on offense. In order for that to happen, Jones is going to have to make some big throws and Barkley will need to electrify as well.

In order for that to happen, Kafka needs to make some better decisions. Head man Brian Daboll clearly wasn’t too pleased with the back-to-back FGs from Gano. Kafka must change things up.
