2. Offensive line didn’t do its job for Saquon Barkley

In the first half alone, the offensive performance was a total nightmare. For the run game, though, you can’t even put into words how bad things were. The team posted eight carries for zero yards. Remember last week when Saquon Barkley bursted for his 194 total yards, with 164 of those coming on the ground?

Sure you do. This week, the expectation was that Barkley and the NY ground game would be able to have another strong showing, but that wasn’t the case at all. Keep in mind that the Carolina defense gave up the second-most rushing yards in Week 1, but they held Barkley completely in check. That’s on the NY offensive line.

They weren’t able to open up holes for him and they constantly had Jones running out of the pocket, trying to make plays on the run. The line would collpase on Jones too often, not giving him enough time to scan the field. The lack of space for Barkley was concerning too. While Barkley got a little hot late, things just weren’t consistent enough.

The guys up front will have to play better against the Cowboys in Week 3. Otherwise, it could end up being another long day for the offense in primetime.
