If this ends up going down, the parties in East Rutherford will never stop. While New York Giants signal-caller Daniel Jones has managed to help the G-Men post a 2-0 record, there’s no denying he’s struggled running the offense. People don’t think he’s the future for this team under center and we’re not going to disagree with that.

So, could the Giants use a first-round pick on a QB of the future come next spring? That’s been the speculation for a while, but Giants legend Tiki Barber has another idea in mind: Lamar Jackson. On Monday, Barber was talking about his former team and he didn’t hold back in saying he thinks Jackson could be at MetLife Stadium next year making plays for Big Blue.

NY Giants landing Lamar Jackson would be a gift from the Football Gods

Don’t you dare give us this kind of hope, Tiki. Jackson is one of the most electric quarterbacks in the NFL right now and everyone has been reminded of that two weeks into the season. Through his first two games of the year, Jackson indeed has been amazing to watch, as he’s thrown for 531 yards and six touchdowns.

On top of that, Jackson is always going to be a threat running the football. Just ask the Miami Dolphins about that, as Jackson was able to rush for 119 yards and a score against them. People are still talking about this breakaway speed:

Now, think about Jackson making this kind of a run at MetLife Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders and more. This would be a dream come true for the Big Blue supporters, but several things are going to have to happen in order for this to somehow get done.

For starters, just because the Ravens and Jackson didn’t agree to a long-term extension this summer, it doesn’t mean the QB will hit free agency next year. Baltimore can still place the franchise tag on him next offseason.

That would infuriate Jackson, no doubt, but the Ravens still have this option. Keep in mind that Baltimore could use the non-exclusive tag (meaning Jackson could negotiate with others), which would allow the AFC North side to match an offer sheet from a team Jackson comes to terms with. The Ravens would receive a pair of first-rounders if Jackson heads elsewhere in this case.

There’s a lot of movement that would need to happen for Jackson to make the move from Baltimore to New Jersey, but if Barber thinks there’s a shot in this occuring, then we’re fully on board. Let the speculation begin on Jackson ruining the lives of opposing defensive coordinators in the NFC East come 2023.
