1. Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones had a rocky afternoon again on Sunday. For the second week in a row, Jones missed multiple deep shots that likely would’ve resulted in touchdowns, including a wide open Kadarius Toney across the middle of the field in the third quarter. Despite the struggles, you have to give some credit to the quarterback for helping the Giants secure the win.

After the Giants went three and out on the first possession in the second half, the Panthers marched right down the field and scored a touchdown to take a 13-6 lead. It felt like the game might be over at that point, as the Giants had shown no ability to move the ball, and Jones had just 67 passing yards in the first half.

Jones showed resiliency, marching the Giants right down the field in the ensuing drive: it was capped off by 16 yard touchdown to rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger. When the Giants needed their quarterback the most, he made a play. With the Giants facing 3rd and 6 with 1:50 to go, knowing a first down could seal the game, Jones delivered the first down, creating the offensive play of the game.

Jones rolled out on a naked boot leg, saw all his receivers were covered, and decided to tuck the ball and run. He made a beautiful a cut to get around Panthers defensive end Henry Anderson, and took the ball across the first down line to seal the game.

While it was rough and ugly for much of the game, Jones deserves his props for stepping up when the game was on the line. NY is now 2-0 on the year and they’ll hope to make it 3-0 in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys. That’ll be a Monday Night Football showdown to remember.
