2. A red-zone sack

Jones was sacked three times in Week 2. Several of these could have potentially been avoided and could have ended much worse than they did. In the first quarter of the game, with the Giants in the red zone, Jones took a drive-altering sack. The Giants then had to settle for a field goal.

On this play, the Giants were on the Panthers’ seven yard line. With the pocket collapsing, Jones elected to try and scramble instead of letting things form around him. In turn, Panthers rusher Brian Burns recorded his first sack of the season.

When watching the play develop, you see that wideout David Sills is standing wide open at the five-yard line, directly in front of Jones. This was before the pocket fully collapsed.

Kadarius Toney ran a route that led to him pulling a defender out of position. Sills would have possibly had to have beaten a Panthers linebacker to reach the endzone.
