What a start it has been thus far for the New York Giants. Virtually no one gave them a chance to take down the Tennessee Titans, but the team came out on top and followed that up with a nail-biting win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. Now, this team is hoping to make things 3-0 with a Monday Night Football showdown with Dallas on the way.

Leading up to that contest, the G-Men made quite the splash in signing former Cowboys Pro Bowl linebacker Jaylon Smith to the practice squad. This is Smith’s second stint with Big Blue, as he suited up for NY in four contests last season. We’ll see if he’s elevated for MNF.

It’s clear that Joe Schoen knows this roster is far from perfect, and he’s not going to hesitate in making additional signings to help the squad get better. So, which players could the Giants end up going after in free agency? In this piece, we take a look at three guys who would make sense.

3. LB Joe Schobert

As we previously mentioned, Smith signed with the Giants for his second stint in East Rutherford and that’s great to see. With that, though, he’s not the only linebacker who was in town getting a close look from the coaching staff. Veteran Joe Schobert landed himself a workout and this sure is intriguing.

Schobert has a ton of experience and it’s clear the Giants could use some help at linebacker. People are still talking about the team releasing Blake Martinez. Martinez took a visit to Baltimore and a signing with the Ravens could go down. Could the same be said for Schobert and the Giants in the near future?

The 6-1, 240-pounder spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns, making the Pro Bowl in 2017. He’s since suited up for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers for regular season action. Schobert has posted at least 100 tackles in five of his six NFL seasons. He’s most definitely a player to watch for the G-Men.
