America’s Team? Give us a break. The last time the Dallas Cowboys went to the Super Bowl, it was January of 1996 and Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio was being spun on your Sony Discman.
Regardless of that, people still, for some reason, believe in Jerry Jones’ team and think they’ll be able to take down the New York Giants during Monday Night Football in Week 3. We don’t see it happening. Every single year, this organization finds a way to disappoint the good people over in the Lone Star State. Week 3 will be no different.
With that said, here’s a look at three players we will passionately say are overrated for Dallas leading up to the primetime showdown in East Rutherford.
3. QB Cooper Rush
Cooper Rush helped the Cowboys take down Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Now, people in Dallas are already getting ready for his speech in Canton. Come on! Sure, Rush is 1-0 on the year as the team’s starting quarterback, but the Dallas defense earned them that victory.
When Dak Prescott went down with his injury, which will sideline him for a little while, a lot of folks were devastated at the thought of Rush taking over as the starting quarterback. He proved a lot of fans wrong with his showing in Week 2, as he tossed for 235 yards and a touchdown, outperforming Burrow.
While Rush exceeded expectations, his supporters on Twitter actually think he’s going to light up this Giants defense. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. Why? We’ve got two words for you: Wink Martindale. The new Giants defensive coordinator will be bringing the heat on the QB and Rush’s life is only going to get more complicated if Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux are ready to roll.
