3. A game-saving first down

Since the first day that the Giants trusted Jones as their QB1, he has made plays with his legs. And during Week 1, he did that yet again. As the Giants marched down the field during their comeback win against the Titans, Jones once again made a play with his legs. And it proved to be one of the defining plays of the upset victory.

With the Giants coming out of the two-minute warning and facing a huge 4th-and-1, Daboll put the ball into Jones’ hands – and the quarterback did what had to be done.

On what looks to be a designed keeper for Jones, the Giants took the ball out of Barkley’s hands as he was having his biggest performance in years.

Jones faked the handoff to Barkley, and instead keeps the ball himself, rushing outside to the left. A tackle would have ended the Giants comeback, and Jones clearly understands this. As he rushes for the first, Jones sees a defender coming, and can beat him around the edge, ultimately taking a big hit out of bounds.

After getting the first, Jones continued to march the Giants down the field, eventually getting them into the endzone and winning the contest.
