3. Giving Daniel Jones the opportunity to go deep

Despite a 2-0 start to the season, the NY Giants still struggle to move the ball offensively at times. The Giants were very methodical in their offensive approach vs the Panthers. Daniel Jones was 22-of-34 on passing attempts, only throwing for 176 yards and one touchdown. The deep ball is an area in Jones’ game that the Giants are not taking advantage of.

Turnovers and interceptions have not done Jones any justice in his time with the Giants. One thing he does well though is throw the deep ball. In 2020, Jones went 19-of-39 for 636 yards and a 5:0 touchdown to interception ratio when going deep.

He had a passer rating of 134.3, much higher than the league average of 96.3. All Giants fans know what kind of offense they are going to see with Jones, especially with Brain Daboll and Mike Kafka being the offensive masterminds. Going from Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes to Jones is a downgrade. Daboll and Kafka are using Jones as a game manager. Quite honestly that is perfect for Jones. He’s not one of the elite QBs in the NFL, but he does what he can to help the Giants win. Mixing in a few more deep passes for Jones could result in touchdowns rather than field goals.
