The New York Giants have had a great first two weeks, securing two hard-fought victories against the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers. Not many expected New York to be 2-0, but they are and they have a legitimate chance to be 3-0 after Week 3.
The Dallas Cowboys have their weaknesses of course, as Dak Prescott is still out and they’re offense is stagnant. New York cannot take them lightly though, as they just squeezed by in the first two weeks, and the Dallas defense is pretty darn impressive.
Not only does Dallas have a dangerous defense, but New York needs this win. They need to take advantage of Dallas while they don’t have Prescott, and they need to keep the wins rolling. This is a very winnable game for New York, but they can’t walk in and expect a cake walk. Let’s take a look at four reasons the Giants can’t overlook Mike McCarthy’s men.
4. The Dallas defense is dangerous
As much as Trevon Diggs lets up big plays, he still has the ability to change the tide of the game at any point by forcing a turnover. His ability to intercept quarterbacks is unquestioned, and Daniel Jones has a history of throwing those.
The fourth-year QB has made smart decisions so far under his new head coach, Brian Daboll, and they need to keep that up if they want to secure a victory.
Not only does Jones and the Giants offense have to worry about Diggs, but they have to worry about arguably the best defensive player in football, Micah Parsons. Throughout his first eight games of his career he has recorded 17 sacks. Parsons is undoubtedly one of the most dominant forces in football right now, and New York’s offensive line needs to come ready to play.
The Giants offense has done well, and they’ve lived on giving the ball to Saquon Barkley. Now that he is back to full strength, defenses are going to be prepared for the rushing attack. The Giants need to figure out a way to utilize the passing game more in order for Barkley to not hit a wall this game.
Preparing for this Dallas defense should’ve been a point of emphasis in practice all week, and New York should know that they can’t take this defense lightly.
